Todos Santos, a historic town on the Pacific side of the Baja península about 45 minutes north of Cabo San Lucas, is designated a pueblo mágico (magic town) and all it takes is a quick stroll around its quaint city blocks to understand why. Todos Santos is home to art galleries, local artisan shops, quality restaurants, and the famed Hotel California. The areas surrounding the historic pueblo are rich farmland, making Todos Santos a haven for organic produce and farm-to-table cuisine. Below are a few of our favorite things to do while there…
Surf at Cerritos—Following Highway 1 north along the Pacific Ocean from Cabo San Lucas, about 10 minutes before arriving to Todos Santos, you will find Cerritos Beach. Cerritos is a world-renowned surf spot for surfers of all skill levels, and its sandy shore break is the best place in the Los Cabos area to catch your first wave. Take a lesson with our team of surf instructors and they will have you standing up in no time! In addition to being a great surf spot, Cerritos is one of our favorite beaches, as it has large expanses of soft, flat sand that are perfect for a game of bocce or frisbee.
Locomotion Bike Trolley Tour—This tour is fun for everyone! You will pedal around town on the bike trolley (with a little help from the motor) and explore the local artisan shops, enjoy a Mexican wine tasting and cocktail-making class, learn to cook tortillas on a traditional comal, and dive into the history of the pueblo mágico. This tour takes you to explore the very best that Todos Santos has to offer and will show you why visitors from the world over fall in love with this magic town.
Jazamango—We recommend saving room after all the delicious snacks on the Locomotion tour, because you don’t want to miss lunch (or dinner, for that matter) at Jazamango restaurant. Jazamango is one of our favorite new restaurants—chef Javier Plascencia truly embraces local organic ingredients to create a menu full of Baja-inspired dishes. Jazamango’s expanse of lush green working farmland stands in contrast to the stark desert landscape; you will almost feel transported to California wine country.
ACRE: ACRE is the newest of Los Cabos’ farm-to-table restaurants, but it has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, serving up modern Mexican cuisine alongside internationally-inspired dishes. ACRE’s modern tropical style and open-air dining perfectly complement farm-fresh local ingredients. Similar in concept to Flora Farms (which everyone should check out on their first trip to Cabo), ACRE offers its own unique charm—part of that charm is a menagerie of rescue animals, including goats, peacocks, puppies, and donkeys (namely the infamous Burrito, who has become a social media star in his own right).
Comal: Chileno Bay Resort’s Comal restaurant brings flavors from across Latin America to Cabo. The creative menu combines the very best of Latin inspiration and local fresh ingredients. Not to mention the al fresco dining room offers incredible views of Chileno Bay, and you will enjoy the excellent service that Auberge resorts are known for.
Los Tres Gallos: Los Tres Gallos serves authentic Mexican cuisine with recipes that have been passed down for generations—think tortilla soup, enchiladas, tacos, flan. Located in the heart of downtown Cabo San Lucas, Los Tres Gallos has a quaint courtyard filled with fruit trees, colorful décor, and string lights that creates a casually elegant atmosphere.
Los Cabos enjoys more than 350 days of sunshine per year, making it a true golfer’s paradise. Whether you are a beginner or a scratch golfer, you should not pass up the opportunity to enjoy one (or more!) of Cabo’s best courses while you are here visiting.
Palmilla Golf Club boasts three 9-hole courses, which were Jack Nicklaus’ first designs in Latin America. All three courses have stunning views of the Cabo landscape. Palmilla Golf Club is a Cabo staple and has been one of the top public courses in Los Cabos for more than 25 years.
Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club is the newest of Cabo’s public golf courses and features gorgeous ocean views from all 27 holes of its three 9-hole courses. The Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus I courses have been offering players unique mountain vistas (and challenges!) for a few years now, but the Nicklaus II course just opened this past year. As an added bonus, every round at Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club includes fresh margaritas and tacos on course.
La Revolución– If you find yourself wandering the cobbled streets of historic San Jose del Cabo in the evening, make sure you find your way to La Revolución for a craft cocktail (they have one of our favorites, el perro callejero). La Revolución is the passion project of Los Cabos’ famed mixologist, Osvaldo Vasquez, and it shows in every detail of their creative menu of artistic cocktails. Vasquez’s team of mixologists at La Revolución are super dedicated to their craft and love to share their knowledge with patrons.
Dalton Gin Bar – Just upstairs from La Revolución, Dalton Gin Bar has moved into the rooftop space of this historic building. Dalton Gin Bar is co-owned by Vasquez and has its own offering of unique cocktails featuring—you guessed it—gin. They continue the theme of their downstairs neighbor and shake up their own menu of thoughtfully crafted cocktails.
The Cape Rooftop – The Rooftop at The Cape hotel is one of our favorite spots to take in amazing views of the Arch while listening to live music. Perched atop the retro-Hollywood hotel, The Rooftop has 360-degree views of downtown Cabo San Lucas, Médano Beach, the Arch, and the mountains that are the backdrop of Los Cabos. The Rooftop has unbeatable views and a fun atmosphere that attracts both locals and visitors.
Every October, Cabo San Lucas is home to the world-famous Bisbees Black & Blue fishing tournament, where hundreds of teams compete for more than $3 million in prize money. This tournament is the highlight of what has become a year-round fishing season in Los Cabos. Whether you are an avid sport fisher or are looking to hook your first marlin, we highly recommend getting out on the water for some fishing while you are here in Cabo. Our group of knowledgeable captains are always scouting the best fishing spots for wahoo, tuna, dorado, and marlin—let them show you an experience many will never have…and hopefully you get a record fish in the process!
October-April: La Paz, the capital city of Baja California Sur, is just a 2-hour drive north of Cabo San Lucas. La Paz is known for its beautiful beaches, gorgeous coastal islands, and (of course) whale sharks. Each year between October and April the whale sharks migrate to the waters just off the coast of La Paz to feed, offering an unforgettable experience for visitors to swim with these gentle giants.
May-September: Even if you are visiting Los Cabos outside of whale shark season, we still highly recommend taking a trip up to La Paz. Try our Espiritu Santo Island Tour and get to know La Paz’s beautiful coastal islands while snorkeling in the crystal-clear water of the Sea of Cortez. You will also visit Balandra Bay, which is known for its calm, shallow waters that you can wade in for hundreds of yards from shore.
Cabo Luxury offers a variety of ways to experience swimming with the whale sharks and Espiritu Santo Island. Contact us today at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about our tours.
Most people would never guess that, tucked in the hills of the rugged Baja desert, is a lush landscape and an array of waterfalls. While there are several hidden waterfalls in the area, our favorite spot is just outside the tiny town of Santiago, about an hour’s drive from Los Cabos. Let our expert guides lead you in a fun day-long tour in a 4×4 off-road Jeep, starting at your private villa. Upon arrival to the waterfalls near Santiago, you will take a short hike to the 40’ falls where you can swim in the refreshing natural pools or relax in the hot springs as long as you like. After enjoying the waterfalls and learning about the diverse ecological system that the falls support, you will head over to the neighboring village of Miraflores for an authentic Mexican lunch before returning to your villa.
