Having served thousands of guests over the years, Cabo Luxury knows that there countless ways to enjoy your Cabo vacation. However, we’ve narrowed it down to a few “must-dos” for your first trip to Cabo.
No first trip to Cabo is complete without a boat trip to The Arch, Cabo’s most famous landmark. Situated at the very end of the Baja peninsula (referred to as “Land’s End”), it is the meeting point of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. The Arch and nearby Pelican Rock are teeming with many different species of fish, as well as sea lions. For the adventurous types we recommend a kayak snorkel tour to Pelican Rock, where you can experience the marine life of the Cabo San Lucas bay and take in the beautiful views of the Arch. If you’re not quite as adventurous, try a sunset cruise instead. Enjoy a cocktail and watch the sun dip low through the hole of the arch and try to catch the “green flash” as it sinks into the Pacific. Either way, you will get incredible photos with this famous landmark.
Cabo Luxury offers many different snorkel and sunset tours to The Arch, both public and private. We would be happy to assist you in choosing the correct tour for you! Contact us for more information.
Cabo is a true beach town, so you can’t skip out on its liveliest bit of coastline—El Médano. Médano Beach is in downtown Cabo San Lucas, stretching east from the marina. It is lined with fun toes-in-the-sand restaurants and bars and is most often bustling with people. The water is calm and beautifully crystal blue, which makes this one of our favorite beaches for swimming. If you plan to spend the afternoon at Médano Beach, we recommend cozying up in a beachfront lounger for full-service lunch and cocktails at one of our concierges’ favorite spots. Sur Beach Club is a chic European-style beach club that serves fresh Baja-style cuisine (think ceviche, sashimi, sushi, and more). Have our concierge reserve you a lounger to enjoy lunch and signature craft cocktails while relaxing under the Cabo sun. Afterward, hit the water for fun activities like jet skiing or stand-up paddle boarding. If you would prefer to just stop in for a quick lunch, check out The Office—a Cabo staple. You will love the toes-in-the-sand dining experience, the brightly colored umbrellas and décor, the classic Mexican cuisine, and the fun Cabo party atmosphere.
Cabo has so many amazing restaurants it’s hard to choose just a few for your first visit. However, we think these three are not to be missed:
Bar Esquina: One block off Médano Beach, Bar Esquina is one of our favorite spots in downtown Cabo San Lucas for great food and even better ambience. We recommend making a weekend reservation for a table on the patio, so you can enjoy the live music under the fun twinkle lights that are strung up on the pergola. Bar Esquina has something for everyone—from wood-fired pizzas to fresh sushi to filet mignon.
Flora Farms: Flora Farms is Cabo’s farm-to-table gem, with an organic farm, restaurant, bar, event venue, market, and shops. They grow their own produce, raise their own meat, and source all other ingredients locally. Everything on the menu is outstanding…you truly can’t go wrong, so order a bit of everything to share family-style. Make sure to stop by the Grocery for farm-fresh produce, freshly baked breads, crafts, and more. And don’t miss the seasonal goodies on the way out—homemade ice cream in the summer and donuts in the cooler months.
Nick San: Nick San is the epitome of Baja-style sushi. They infuse flavors of the Baja, like cabrilla (local sea bass), mango, cilantro, and serrano, with traditional Japanese technique to create unique (and delicious!) rolls. One of our summertime favorites is the lobster roll with fresh, local mango. If you are in the mood to try some of their unique Baja-style rolls, go off-menu and order the Silubana, Negui Agi, or Kushiyo –they do not disappoint! P.S. – If you happen to catch your own fish on one of our fishing charters, the chefs at Nick San will happily prepare specialty dishes with your catch for a totally custom dining experience.
Santa Maria Bay and Chileno Bay are neighboring beaches about 15 minutes from Cabo San Lucas on the Sea of Cortez. Because the coves are protected from the often-strong surf of the Sea of Cortez, they are two of the best beaches for swimming and are home to a large variety of fish. Explore the diverse marine life with our expert guides by kayak or even from a private yacht.
Cabo San Lucas is known as much for its nightlife as it is for its beautiful beaches. If you are visiting for the first time and want to experience the quintessential Cabo nightlife, you won’t want to miss these spots during your first trip to Cabo…
Nowhere Bar: Start the night off with a couple of cocktails at Nowhere Bar, a staple for locals and visitors alike, perfect for warming up the evening. Set right on the marina, the combination of flashing lights and ocean air will really remind you how wonderful it feels to be on vacation.
Mandala: Once the night has really begun, walk across the street to Mandala. This high energy club plays everything from today’s top hits to electronic music’s best remixes. Flashing lights, beautiful people and lit-up dance floors make this a must-do on the Cabo Nightlife strip.
El Squid Roe: If you make it into the morning hours while downtown Cabo, you will probably find yourself at El Squid Roe. There are three towering levels to this crazy, fun and outrageous nightclub. It is common to find people dancing on tables or in cages, whistles being blown to celebrate the most shots taken and even celebrity sightings at this infamous Cabo nightclub. Just remember their favorite slogan – “what happens in Cabo, never happened!”
Los Cabos has much more to offer than beautiful views, excellent dining, and fun nightlife. Here at Cabo Luxury, we are big proponents of experiencing all facets of the Baja. That is why we always encourage our clients to seek out the rugged side of Los Cabos as well. Our private guided UTV tour will take you on a desert adventure through the best trails in the Los Cabo area, which lead you straight to the stunning, ultra-private beaches of the East Cape where you can cool off by surfing, stand up paddling, or snorkeling. You will see a side of Los Cabos that many don’t get to experience on their first trip to Cabo, but that Cabo pros consider to be the highlight of their vacation.
Historic San Jose del Cabo is considered to be the quiet, artsy sister of the more touristy Cabo San Lucas. Downtown San Jose del Cabo is home to narrow streets lined with art galleries and small, local eateries. Every Thursday evening (from November to June) the streets come alive, with the galleries opening their doors to all and the plaza filling with local vendors showcasing their crafts—with everything from hand-beaded Huichol calaveras, to canvas paintings, to macramé jewelry and handbags. Grab a margarita to-go at one of the bars on the plaza and get to know the local artisans. Art Walk is fun for the whole family.
